Garford Farm Machinery Ltd have been based at Frognall, Deeping St James, Nr Peterborough since 1994.

The Factory

Garford Farm Machinery’s Factory Manager is Phill Hales who joined Garford Farm Machinery in its infancy as Factory Foreman at the original premises at Maxey, Cambridgeshire and now runs the factory at Frognall in Lincolnshire. Phill takes full responsibility for purchasing, organising production planning, the factory staff workload and the service engineers schedule. He also runs a busy spare parts department liaising with customers worldwide.

Welding section – Garford Farm Machinery have a busy fabrication department with an enthusiastic team comprising of Jamie Jennings, Gavin Hewitt and Paul Usher who look after the manufacture of all steel fabricated components.

Spray shop – Our highly experienced paint sprayer, takes pride in achieving a high quality finish to all Garford products.

Assembly bays – Richard Garford and his team of skilled assembly staff, Mark Lamin, Joe Sarro, Chris Haley and Daniel Bellamy ensure the timely and accurate construction of customers orders during the busy sales season.

Spare Parts Department – Phill Hales oversees the smooth running of the spare parts department, together with his assistant Adam Garford to ensure the timely dispatch of essential spare parts to customers. In addition to spare parts for Garford equipment we stock parts for Matrot and Unicorn machines.

Service - Mark Lamin heads up Field Service and Product Support.  Mark is responsible for both in house and on site repairs and service.  He also looks after the pre/post season machine examinations for Garford, Matrot and Unicorn products. 

Technical support – Kevin King and Nigel Trevarthen ensures total technical integrity of all new Garford products. Kevin is responsible for after sales product support, with Russ Moon, liaising directly with our customers to ensure fast solutions to any problems encountered. Supported with our Technical Engineers Andrew Gilbert and Roy Quincey.

The above are supported by our very important General Engineers, Keith Buckley and Pat Lewin.

Our satisfaction comes from ensuring our machines perform well in the field, it’s the reason we design and build them! There is always someone available at the end of the phone from our experienced teams and management to solve any problems encountered.

The Offices

Management – The management team comprises of 3 Directors;

Philip Garford is the Managing Director and, as well as general management duties, he heads the Sales and Marketing team and is heavily involved in new product development. He can often be found out in the field product testing and demonstrating machines to customers.

Michael Garford is the Design & Technical Director and leads on all design and development issues, again hands on during any development process.

Janet Garford is the Finance Director and responsible for all financial, legal, staff and admin issues.

Sales – Headed up by Philip Garford, Chris Lunn is the Export Sales Manager dealing with clients world wide and always looking at new markets for Garford’s products. UK Sales is the responsibility of George Hall, Salesman/Aftersales Technician, who is happy to furnish UK farmers and growers with all their requirements.  In listening to customers needs Philip, Chris and George can find the right machine to suit the customers requests.

Design & Technical – Headed up by Michael Garford and greatly supported by Darren Mansfield and Gideon Okoh, the small Design and Technical Team liaise with the sales department to design the right product for the customer’s needs. They are constantly looking to improve designs and come up with new products to support the existing range.

Administration – Headed up by Janet Garford, Catherine Morgan is the Office Manager along with Julia Jennings who deals with Accounting and Admin duties.

Investing for the future is something always at the forefront of Garford Farm Machinery’s thoughts and developing the young generation’s enthusiasm and experience through apprenticeships at Garford’s is one of them.

Andrew Gilbert – our first apprentice joined the company in 1995 studying for his NVQ in Engineering at Peterborough Technical College. After completing a very successful apprenticeship, he now heads up the welding section as Production & Fabricator Supervisor.

Richard Garford – apprentice engineer started with the company in 2001 and now carries out the role of Factory Foreman and Lead Fitter.

Adam Garford – following a full time course in engineering Adam starting at Garford’s in 2002 as an Apprentice Stores/Parts Assistant and took a course in Stores & Warehousing. Adam is now responsible for the Stores area, dispatch of spare parts, assisting Phill Hales with purchasing and keeping the paperwork in order.

Jamie Jennings – Jamie has been working for Garford’s since 2007, employed as an Apprentice Engineer, and after completing a successful engineering course at the local college, Jamie is now an experienced welder here at Frognall.

Gavin Hewitt - Gavin has been working at Garfords since April 2012 following a desire to pursue a career in engineering.  Currently completing a day release Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship with West Anglia Training Association, Gavin will then join the well established Welding Team. 

Kevin King - joined Garfords in June 2012 as an Apprentice Technical Engineer and has completing an HNC in Engineering at the University Centre Peterborough (Anglia Ruskin University) and is currently studying for his BEng.  Experiencing both in-house and external training, Kevin heads up the Technical Department at Garford Farm Machinery Ltd.
