Garford Farm Machinery has been recognised with two Silver Awards at the LAMMA Innovation Awards 2026, underlining its continued focus on delivering practical, high-performance solutions for modern farming systems.

The business received a Silver Award in the Machine of the Year category, alongside a second Silver Award in the Future Innovation for Environmental Benefit category – both for the Garford Electric Weeder.

The Machine of the Year award recognises a standout piece of agricultural machinery that demonstrates exceptional innovation, performance and impact, setting new benchmarks for efficiency and engineering excellence. Garford’s Electric Weeder was recognised for its ability to deliver effective, non-chemical weed control across a wide range of cropping systems.

Developed in collaboration with RootWave, the Garford Electric Weeder combines precision mechanical guidance, advanced imaging, artificial intelligence and high-frequency electrical weeding technology. This integrated approach enables accurate targeting of weeds between crop rows, delivering a complete systemic kill while protecting the crop.

Suitable for use in row crops, high-value horticulture and broadacre arable applications, the system helps improve crop quality and reduce competition from weeds, while offering both economic and environmental benefits for growers.

The second award, for Future Innovation for Environmental Benefit, recognises forward-thinking technologies that support more sustainable farming systems and deliver long-term environmental value. The Electric Weeder was acknowledged for its role in reducing reliance on herbicides while maintaining effective weed control, supporting more resilient and sustainable crop production.

These awards highlight Garford’s ongoing commitment to advancing precision weeding technology and providing growers with practical tools to meet the evolving challenges of modern agriculture.
