Garford Farm Machinery Ltd designs and manufactures camera guided implements for weed control that are used by farmers throughout the world to grow crops. AI Data Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for an AI Data Engineer to join our R&D team at our offices based close to Peterborough.

Responsibilities include:-

  • Working in a dynamic R&D team environment
  • Organising training data and data gathering activities for Machine Learning (AI)
  • Training and deploying Deep Learning (CNN) models and working closely with runtime and testing teams
  • Improving backend infrastructure for delivering deployed models and retrieving training data

Required Skills:-

  • 2 – 3 years of Python programming
  • Experience of training and manipulating machine learning models using frameworks such as PyTorch
  • Strong maths skills and problem solving ability
  • Experience coding on a Linux platform
  • Experience using version control software such as GitHub
  • Experience manipulating images with libraries such as OpenCV

Any experience with ONNX, TensorRT, NVIDIA CUDA or AWS would be beneficial.
Experience of agriculture is preferred but not essential.

Mechanical Design Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Technical Design team at our offices based close to Peterborough.

This position is for an individual with:

  • A high level of competency with Computer Aided Design programs.
  • An aptitude for mechanical engineering design.
  • Farm machinery experience is an advantage.
  • You must be a team player with good attention to detail.

For the successful candidate, responsibilities will include:

  • Modelling fully assembled machines in Autodesk 3D Inventor environment.
  • Producing working drawings for fully assembled machines, including hydraulic schematics.
  • Working with senior designers on new product designs.
  • Assisting in the publication of parts books and manuals.
  • Working on product upgrades.
  • Completing FEA on components and assemblies.
  • Performing ad hoc tasks relating to your design duties, as directed by your Line Manager.

You will be expected to build up a good, in depth, knowledge of Garford products and this may mean spending some time in the factory with assembly staff and out in the field with completed machines.

This position could evolve in line with abilities and experience to cover more design aspects.

Training will be provided.
