Robocrop Electric Weeder

Garford Robocrop Electric weeders are a new technology for weed management in high value vegetable and ornamental crops. Garford electric weeders integrate technology from electric weeding specialist Rootwave, the system uses high voltage, high frequency AC electricity to treat and kill weeds.

The system works by passing current through the targeted weed plant and uses the soil as a return conductor meaning the technique treats the root, therefore the technique is systemic in its outcome. The treatment delivery system is integrated into a Garford vision guided toolbar with our proven disc steer technology meaning treatment of crop interrow zones with high precision is achieved. The high voltage electricity is generated on board from a PTO driven power generator. The very latest generation of Rootwave power electronics actively manage the voltage, current and frequency for optimised weed treatment. The system consists of 6 pairs of treatment electrodes which are managed individually meaning desired treatment outcomes are delivered regardless of variable weed burden or soil conditions across the machine working width.
